Introducing “Everything You Need to Know About…”

How many times have you said, "This is the time! I am going to read through the entire Bible?" Chances are, if you are like me, you have said that more than a few times. This begs another question, how many times have you done it? I don't think we need to convince you of the importance of reading through God's Word. Instead of convincing you, what we want to do is help you along the way.

Over the last year and a half, a group has gathered at The Summit once a month to read God's word. You can ask any of them who has attended these sessions, and they will tell you how powerful it can be to engage in God's Word as literature to understand the world of Jesus. But often, what we read doesn't make much sense to us. We don't understand the context or the references being made - which can lead to frustration, or even worse, us closing the book altogether, relying on someone else to read it and teach us what it means.

We want to be a church body that supports and encourages each other in spiritual growth, and we cannot grow spiritually without immersing ourselves in the Scriptures. Let me introduce to you "Everything You Need To Know About..." or as we like to refer to it, "EYNTKA" - really rolls off the tongue. Go ahead, try it!

Over the next couple of years, we will release a series of posts that take each book of the Bible and give you an introduction to help you navigate that particular book. We will provide you with the historical context, the addressed audience, the book's purpose, the major themes to look for, and any other information that may be helpful for that particular book.

The goal is not for you to read these posts as a "summary" of the book and, therefore, not read the book itself. The goal is for us to give you a guide to reference as you read through the book, hopefully easing some of those frustrations of not understanding particular parts.
